What to expect
Your first session
A first session is a conversation, not a test. It lasts 60 minutes.
- 01
Step 1: Before you come
You get your fee in writing, and a link to intake forms on Loam's own portal. Please keep medical details out of this website.
- 02
Step 2: The first conversation
Mariah asks what made you look for a counselor, what you would like to be different, and what you want to leave alone for now. You do not have to tell your whole story.
- 03
Step 3: How she works
She explains her approach, what it asks of you and what it can stir up, the limits of confidentiality, and the possible risks and benefits. Then you decide.
- 04
Step 4: Before you leave
Time to settle, a next step if you want one, and any questions about fees or cancellation.
Questions
About the first session
Do I have to tell her everything?
No. You decide what to share and when. Many first sessions are about what you want and what pace feels right.
Can I bring someone?
Most clients come alone. If it would help to have someone with you for the first few minutes, ask when you write.
Is there anything to prepare?
Nothing special. Bring any questions, and tell us if anything would make the visit easier.
Ready to book?
Write to Mariah and tell us how to reach you.
